RS Teacher in an Outstanding comprehensive school in London. All my lessons are always conceptual, accurate in content, challenging and engaging for students. The department is consistently among the best results in the school with strong P8 and attainment scores. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on resources, good or bad, I'm always looking to improve, please review!

AQA GCSE RE RS - Islam Practices L7 Jihad

One of the most misunderstood concepts in Islam. This lesson follows the AQA textbook. The emphasis of the lesson is more on greater jihad and it opens itself up nicely for lots of discussion. there are exam questions at the end.

AQA GCSE RS Theme E: Religion Crime and Punishment Keyword Revision Card Game (New Spec)

This is a game I've created for my year 11's. They've been struggling with keywords so this is a fun activity that can be played multiple times with them. There are differing levels of rules so can allow for differentiation as well. The cards have been created so that you can print them double sided and the tiles will match up (or print and photocopy 1sided - 2 sided and it should work) I recommend laminating and printing each set of different colour paper. There are about 30 words in total. The rules in short are, Spread the cards out across your table with the keyword facing up Each player takes it in turn to select a card and guess the definition of the word. If the player guesses correctly with the reverse of the card they keep the card and add it to their pile. If they are incorrect the leave the card to the table and put back 3 cards from their hand. Winner is the person with the most cards at the end of the game. Also available as bundle Also available Christianity Islam Themes A - F Please review! Thanks

AQA GCSE RE RS - Christianity Practices - L1 Worship and Prayer

This is a really big lesson for worship and prayer, you may find it easy to split in two. It covers the who the whats of these different styles. I’ve also now updated it to include lots of videos through, which the students really like. My year 10s like to write EVERYTHING down, its good training for A level and will help the revise, however you may want to just turn them into crib sheets if you want the to note take. The activity is a sorting one but in the interests of time I recommend using highlighters, the hands are also included, it is a way of listing advantages and disadvantages - thinking along the lines of 12 mark question. In the powerpoint I’ve included a video that has stuff to do with speaking in tongues (its a long video but you’d start from about 11 min in. Obviously, skip this if you’re not confident in explaining this belief and don’t want to open a can of worms, most people find it a bit freaky. If you do include it, I recommend talking them through the video and explaining that these people are having a ‘religious experience’ and it’s their emotions on display. If the videos don’t load after a few moments, re launch the power point.

Buddhism the Three Marks of Existence

Linked to the previous lesson (available for free) This unit explores Buddhism by first looking at the primary concepts. This is the second lesson and it focuses on the three marks of existence. The mandala they have created as homework from the previous lesson are torn in half, used as a way of experiencing this concept of the first mark, anicca. It is an engaging lesson, punctuated by GCSE style thinking and writing questions.
